Shatta Wale aims for “Artist of the Year” award over Ebony if nominated
Shatta Wale has said Ebony Reigns is his friend
He says if he is nominated for the Artist of the Year award, then Ebony Reigns will not win the coveted award.
Popular Ghanaian dancehall artist, Charles Nii Armah Menah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has expressed an interest in the Artist of the Year award, should he receive a nomination this time around.
Shatta Wale’s relationship with organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) is one that many Ghanaians know, and his absence from the awards ceremonies has come to be expected over the years. It appears that this year however, the dancehall artiste seems to harbor the idea that he may have a shot at the VGMA’s coveted Artist of the Year award, and believes he will win, should he get a nomination. Speaking in a recent interview with OKAY FM, the controversial dancehall artiste said Ebony Reigns – who many have said is likely to receive the coveted award – is his friend, but he has had a better year with regards to hit song releases as compared to her. “Ebony is my girl and I really love her and what she is doing but as for the artiste of the year, unless they don’t nominate me, before she can win. So she should just pray they don’t nominate me, ” said Shatta Wale.
